The Trump Administration has intensified its efforts to address illegal immigration. On Wednesday, President Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law. The act requires the detention of illegal immigrants who are accused of theft-related crimes or assaults on law enforcement officers.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia has expressed her support for the bill and the administration’s recent actions to increase deportations of illegal immigrants with criminal records. She said, “He said he was going to do this, and I support him. I believe it will make our country safer.” Capito pointed out that the number of people crossing the border illegally has dropped significantly, from 11,000 per day to just over 600 per day. “This shows that the President is serious about controlling our border,” she added.
Capito also mentioned that as of Thursday, the Trump Administration had deported approximately 7,000 people.
