A federal jury in New York has awarded Nike $355,450 after finding that Lululemon’s athletic shoes violated Nike’s patent rights.
The case centered around Lululemon’s Chargefeel, Strongfeel, and Blissfeel running and training shoes, which were deemed to infringe on Nike’s patent concerning sneaker structure innovations.
However, the jury dismissed claims related to a second Nike patent.
Nike had sought at least 5% of Lululemon’s revenue from the shoes in damages. Lululemon expressed satisfaction with the rejection of claims on the second patent and stated its intention to appeal the infringement ruling, emphasizing that the decision would not impact its products.
The case, filed in 2023, continues a legal battle between the two companies.
Lululemon has previously challenged Nike’s patent validity, while another case involving a dispute over Lululemon’s Mirror Home Gym patent remains ongoing.
The legal proceedings were conducted under the case Nike Inc v. Lululemon USA Inc, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, No. 1:23-cv-00771.
